This four storey circular tower had a thatched roof when it was burnt in 1642 by Confederate Catholics. Teige Carroll then held the tower, whose son Donough was transported to Co. Clare in 1657, but who recovered Rathmore in 1661. The destroyed eastern part which faced towards a bawn contained the entrance and staircase. Ivy obscures the upper features.
