Gellet Rock
This stump was left by the limestone quarriers when they removed all the surrounding rock, and its height shows the thickness of the limestone which was quarried out here. It is much used by rock climbers, and at one time a futile attempt was made to fence it off to prevent damage. The trio standing at right were part of a squad of climbers who had festooned the south face of the rock with climbing equipment, and were discussing possible routes up this, the west face.
