TQ8351 : Fruits of autumn

taken 13 years ago, near to Kingswood, Kent, Great Britain

Fruits of autumn
Fruits of autumn
Sweet chestnut coppice is primarily grown for fencing and I don't know of anyone who harvests the nuts as a commercial crop in Kent but each cluster generally produces at least one nut worth eating if you have the patience and a thick pair of gloves to handle the very prickly husks. See TQ8351 : King's Wood footpath for where I found these.
