taken 8 years ago, near to Prestwich, Bury, England

Portico, Heaton Park, Manchester
Portico, Heaton Park, Manchester
After Manchester's early C19th town hall (by Francis Goodwin) was demolished, this part was saved and moved to the park in 1912. Four elegant fluted Ionic columns with capitals based on the Erechtheum in Athens (SD8303 : Detail of portico, Heaton Park, Manchester). Grade II* listed.
The scaffolding here was to facilitate "significant" repairs that had been identified.
