Etal Castle Gatehouse
Etal Castle Gatehouse
One of the surviving bits of Etal Castle, a fortress which saw action in the wars between England and Scotland. It was captured by the Scots in 1513.
Not content with all that, the Manners family, who lived here, had a feud going on with the Heron family at Ford Castle just down the road. There was more fighting.
