Sails off into the sunrise, Skidby
In the foreground are the new and renovated sails of Skidby Mill, pictured early in the morning. The sails were removed in 2020 after two were found to have wet rot.
Plans have been lodged with East Riding Council to install the pictured two new sails and two restored ones. The mill will not be able to produce flour as previously: the sails would be able to turn slowly to shed water, but milling would put too much stress on the mechanism of the 200-year-old mill.
