taken 2 years ago, near to Darlington, England

Hairy Acorns
Hairy Acorns
The fruits of Quercus cerris, the Turkey oak or Austrian oak, mature over two seasons. At first they are entirely encapsulated in bristles, but eventually the acorn pops through and is shed late in the second season.

For the whole tree, see NZ2914 : Quercus cerris.
