The September 2023 steaming weekend saw the first public steaming of A-engine, the last of the four large beam engines to be returned to working order. The honour of opening the main steam valve to set the engine running was given to the Trust's oldest member, Ernie Smith, a regular volunteer until well into his 90s.
Claymills Victorian Pumping Station

Claymills Pumping Station is a former steam-powered, sewage pumping station on the north side of Burton upon Trent, now restored as a museum and visitor attraction. It was built between 1884 and 1886 and used to pump sewage caused by the brewing industry in Burton-upon-Trent to the sewage farm at Egginton. It is designated as a Grade II* listed building (Historic England List entry Number: 1038427 LinkExternal link ); one of only three pumping stations of this size and completeness to survive in England.
