Shops in Shiney Row
Shops in Shiney Row
This is the village centre on Chester Road. Shiney Row is a typical 19th century former mining village : one of many in Co Durham. The name is derived from an Anglo Saxon name meaning "beautiful row of trees", so not too far from the present version.
