Newport Bridge
Another view of the bridge, approaching from the east.
Built by Dorman Long and opened in 1934, it was the world's longest central span lifting bridge.
With the construction of the Tees Barrage, which ended the movement of large shipping upstream, the central span was permanently fastened down after a final ceremonial opening on 18th November 1990.
