Site of Malago Vale Iron Works
Site of Malago Vale Iron Works
The former works is first shown on the 1874 Ahsmead map of Bristol as 'Malago Vale Works (Engine). Some of the later iron works was Monmouth Street, which is first shown on the same map as the Engine Works. Half of Monmouth Street was destroyed during World War II and most of the street was subsequently demolished in the 1970s. The Iron Works is first shown on the 1947-1965 OS map, along with the existing engineering works. A later industrial building was built on the site of Monmouth Street, and was SJM Fabrications LTD. Another later Industrial building, home to Pring & St Hill LTD was built on the former iron works. Only one building survived from the 19th Century, apart from a few outer walls. All the buildings on site were demolished in late 2008-February 2009. The site was later used as a hand car wash from 2015-2018. Most of the outer walls of the site were demolished in early 2023, but some walls are still extant.
