In 1393, a chantry and college of the Holy Trinity was founded in the church and considerable enlargement of the church followed.

The Shell Guide to Kent describes the church as "having a pleasing, light interior with no incongruities. Old timbers in the roof. Good fifteenth-century glass. Norman west doorway." John Newman in Pevsner's Buildings of England: North East & East Kent says: "Gratifyingly little restoration. The interior has the bright, open airiness, with whitewashed walls and roofs that appeals to our mid-20th century tastes."
