Durham's Market Place is overlooked by the 19th century St Nicholas' Church designed by J P Pritchett and now grade II listed. George Carey, later to become Archbishop of Canterbury, was the vicar here for a few years. On the left in this view is the Market Tavern, a Greene King pub.
