Windmill Hill City Farm
Windmill Hill City Farm was created in 1976 by volunteers.
The site where the farm now stands was previously two rows of terraced housing on Doveton Street and Percy Street. These houses were nearly all destroyed during World War II, resulting in a lot of land being left derelict. Bristol City Council wanted to develop the land into a lorry park but was stopped by the local residents. In 1977 and 1978 the site was cleared and a farmyard was built. Volunteers renovated a derelict building on the site into a workshop and meeting room. The building is now a farm shop. An all weather sports pitch was built in 1985, followed by the indoor activity centre in 1995.
