David Thomas House, Effingham Road
Looks like a church - but actually is a sheltered housing complex.
This was a congregational church until 1981 when the entire structure was demolished apart from the facade and the spire. Behind were built 5 storeys of flats, just visible on the right, and landscaped gardens.
The Rev. David Thomas was a local preacher, born in Merthyr Tydfil in 1811, died in 1875: the original church was built in his honour in 1878.
