Although the current building dates back to the latter part of the 18th century, it is believed that an ale house has been located on this site for some 400 years or so. The building is Grade II listed and consists of a painted rendered exterior, and is two storeys high and three bays in width, with the central four-panel door set in a door- case of Tuscan pilasters, frieze and hood.
