The churches of St Michael and St Mary
The churches of St Michael and St Mary
Three churches share the same churchyard: Reepham's church of St. Mary (seen in the background, at left) is joined by its choir vestry to St. Michaelís (seen in the foreground, at right), once serving the parish of Whitwell, and a third church, All Saints, which served the parish of Hackford. All Saints church was destroyed in the fire of 1543 and all that remains is a short section of wall, covered by vegetation, in the southwestern corner of the churchyard > TG1022 : Remains of All Saints Church. St Michael's church > Link - Link - Link is still being used for children's services and its nave also serves as a meeting place for community and social events and coffee mornings; it is hoped that the chancel will again be open after refurbishment. St Mary's church > TG1022 : St Mary's church - chancel - TG1022 : St Mary's church - east window - TG1022 : St Mary's church - view west, extensively restored in the 19th century, is open every day. The perhaps most noteworthy survival from medieval times is an altar tomb to Sir William de Kerdiston, on a bed of stones > TG1022 : St Mary's church - Kerdiston tomb. The square font dates from Norman times > TG1022 : St Mary's church - baptismal font. For more information see: LinkExternal link
