The Stanley E. Hollis VC Memorial, Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough
Stanley Elton Hollis VC (1912 – 1972) was the recipient of the only Victoria Cross awarded on D-Day (6 June 1944). He was a Company Sergeant-Major in the 6th Green Howards. The memorial, sculpted by Brian Alabaster, was unveiled in November 2015 by the Vice Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.
