Clavell's Hard
Looking down onto the beach at Clavell's Hard from the cliff-top coastal path. The headland is Blackstone Point, the name a clue to the activity that this cliff has seen in the past. A seam of blackstone (or "Kimmeridge Coal") is found about half-way up the cliff. In the 19th century this was mined, and there are several collapsed adits in the cliff-face. In the foreground is the end of a (dry?) hanging valley.
