Greylag Geese (Anser anser) beside Marsworth Reservoir
Two Greylag Geese (Anser anser) nibble the grass at the water's edge on the western side of Marsworth Reservoir. A third was being more aloof - see SP9213 : Greylag Goose (Anser anser)
The Greylag is the ancestor of the majority of farmyard geese. With an overall length up to 90cm (3') it is the largest of the "grey" geese (genus Anser) - and the only one that breeds in Britain.
