The Market Place, Alnwick
The Market Place, Alnwick
The historic Market Place lies at the centre of the town and is surrounded by many interesting buildings. A market is held here on Thursdays and Saturdays. Just visible, in the bottom left corner of the photograph (north east corner of the Market Place), is the Market Cross, believed to date from the 18th century although the head of the cross, formed by lozenge shaped blind tracery panels, is from a later date. The Market Cross is Grade II Listed.
