NN3339 : Coire a' Ghabhalaich

taken 16 years ago, 4 km E of Bridge of Orchy, Argyll And Bute, Scotland

Coire a' Ghabhalaich
Coire a' Ghabhalaich
Big open corrie between Beinn an Dòthaidh and Beinn Dòrain. The bealach at its head is the route that nearly everyone takes when climbing Beinn Dòrain and beyond it the land falls away sharply to Bridge of Orchy. Snow is clearing from the corrie floor, but the slopes of Beinn Dòrain were deeply covered with icy snow.
Occasionally figures could be seen silhouetted on the skyline, which is the busy path up Beinn Dòrain.
