Beech trees beside the Newhall Burn
Beech trees beside the Newhall Burn
A very pleasant place to explore. Some minor tracks exist, but following one's nose gives the greatest sense of achievement. A number of beech trees had been toppled by recent storms. According to a local ecologist Newhall Burn Wood contains the highest number of plant species of any wood on the Black Isle, and is home to badgers, roe deer and pine martens, and is being proposed as a Local Nature Conservation Site.
