Ropery Stairs, North Shields
A series of steep stairs linked the upper and lower parts of North Shields and when the numerous bankside slum housing was eventually demolished a number of these stairs remained. These are perhaps the steepest flight and link the Fish Quay area with what was formerly Ropery Bank.
