Steps near Holywell Dene

This small flight of steps lie on the course of a public footpath which links Holywell Dene with the course of the old Avenue Branch of the Blyth & Tyne Railway. Until this particular point the footpath follows the route of an old waggonway which stretched from Hartley Pit to Seaton Sluice, serving both the Hartley Bottle Works and the nearby Iron Works.
