This subsidiary entrance to 131 Bedford Street lies at the bottom corner of this fine Victorian building Link. The building was designed by local architect F.R.N.Haswell and was once occupied by Grieve's Ironmonger, a firm specialised in supplying materials to ships based at, or visiting, North Shields. In 2023 the building was acquired by a new social enterprise headed by internationally-renowned DJ, producer, musician and label owner Geoff Kirkwood, better known as Man Power. Now renamed The Haswell Building, the property is being transformed into affordable spaces for creatives and artists. The artwork is the first outward sign that the function of the building is undergoing change.
