Beauly Firth at Garguston
Beauly Firth at Garguston

View along the northern shoreline of the Firth. In the foreground is the derelict Redcastle pier at Milton. This pier was originally built to facilitate the shipment of masonry blocks from the quarry at Milton, along the Beauly Firth on barges, to Inverness for use in the building of the Caledonian Canal. When the canal was opened in 1822 there was no further need for the pier and it became derelict.
