A boat by the Beauly Firth

Next to the small car park at Milton of Redcastle is old boat containing daffodils and used as a planter. In the background can be seen what was originally a pier built to facilitate the shipment of masonry blocks from the quarry at Milton, along the Beauly Firth on barges, to Inverness for use in the building of the Caledonian Canal. When the canal was opened in 1822 there was no further need for the pier and it became derelict.
