This photo taken on one of my day tours of Cotswold villages. The one time vicar here was John Keble, whose son, also John, was leader of the Oxford Movement and author of The Christian Year. The manor house was the one time home of Sir Michael Hicks-Beach, also known as Black Michael and later the First Lord St Aldwyn, who was twice Chancellor of the Exchequer in the Victorian era. I am indebted to my fellow Geographer Silverwhiskers who gave me the location for this photo. Time photo taken not available.
