St Michael's Chapel, Downside
St Michael's Chapel, Downside
This tiny chapel remains open for services. Next door is a public bridleway (Esher 82) to Stoke d'Abernon, which passes an old pump erected in 1858 "for the supply and comfort of the cottagers on Downside Common". Behind the photographer is the triangular expanse of Downside Common itself, largely surrounded by rows of cottages.
