Aphids on a thistle stem
A colony of black aphids on the stalk of a thistle by the bank of the Braidburn in the Braidburn Valley Park. Possibly the Black bean aphid [Aphis fabae]. They reproduce parthogenetically, and large numbers are produced close together.
