The Vermont Hotel, Newcastle
This building on the Castle Garth at Newcastle has an interesting history. It was built in 1910 as the County Hall for Northumberland, . It was extended in 1933 at the rear down to the Side, below this level. In 1981 it was vacated by Northumberland council, which had a new county hall in Morpeth from 1974. In 1993 it was converted to the Vermont Hotel. The church spire in the distance is All Saints Church dating from the late 18th century.
