SK9234 : A weir in the Witham
taken 7 months ago, near to Grantham, Lincolnshire, England

A weir in the Witham
There are a number of these weirs in Grantham, presumably man made and a relic of the flow control associated with the various mills. The geology is mostly of post-glacial gravels over mudstones, so there is no faulting or step in the underlying structure at these points.

River Witham
The River Witham is a 82 mile long river, almost entirely in Lincolnshire. It rises south of Grantham close to South Witham, passes Lincoln and Boston, finally flowing into The Haven, a tidal arm of The Wash. The river is navigable from Lincoln to Boston.
