Glenbeg House, Glen Beg, Lismore, Co. Waterford (1)
Glenbeg House, Glen Beg, Lismore, Co. Waterford (1)
A detached five-bay two storey 17th century farmhouse, built in 1626 on a T-shape plan by one Barnabus Hancock Tottenham (died 1632), on a site obtained by Sir Richard Boyle (d. 1643) of Cork. The house is distinguished by the crow-stepped gables of its two-storey projecting end bays, and the six great chimney stacks. The house has historic association with the Jackson family, including George Bennett Jackson, Nelson Trafalgar Foley (1805-78) of neighbouring Ballygally House, and the Hudson family, including John Thomas Hudson. The house was restored in 1999 - 2002 following a long period of neglect.
