Class 66 locomotive at the former level crossing on Foxcovert Road, Werrington
This Class 66 diesel-electric locomotive no. 66715 "Valour" operated by GB Railfreight (GBRf) is seen here passing the former level crossing on Foxcovert Road, which links Werrington on the northern periphery of Peterborough with the villages of Glinton and Peakirk. The crossing is located on the Great Northern Great Eastern (GNGE) line, an 86-mile (134.4-kilometre) route connecting Peterborough with Lincoln and Doncaster.
Foxcovert Crossing was closed to motor traffic in the 1980s. A footbridge with ramps for cyclists was erected in 2014 to replace the previous pedestrian gates.
Named "Valour", this locomotive was dedicated in November 2003 "in memory of all railway employees who gave their lives for their country".
