taken 1 year ago, near to Castle Eden, County Durham, England

Castle Eden railway station (site), County Durham
Castle Eden railway station (site), County Durham
Opened in 1839 (needs confirmation) by the Hartlepool Dock & Railway Company, later part of the North Eastern Railway, on the line from Hartlepool to Haswell, this station closed to passengers in 1952 and completely in 1964.
View east at the front of the station. The railway and eastbound platform were behind, i.e. to the right of the image. The westbound platform was 100m further west, on the other side of Stockton Road. The former railway line had become a footpath, when this image was taken, but the old station could not be seen through the undergrowth!
