Hart railway station (site), County Durham
Opened in 1839 as "Crimdon" by the Hartlepool Dock & Railway Company, later part of the North Eastern Railway, on the line from Hartlepool to Haswell. The name was changed to "Hart" in 1871. This station closed in 1952.
View northwest. The original line to Haswell is now the pathway to the left. The line to the right is the Durham Coast route to Sunderland via Seaham, which opened in 1905, at which point Hart was rebuilt with 4 platforms. After closure, the station was demolished. The former station house, behind the camera position, is all that remains.
