Derwent Water, Friar's Crag
Friar's Crag is a promontory on the eastern shore of Derwentwater at Keswick. It has been under the care of the National Trust since 1922. It is a popular viewpoint, providing a pleasant resting spot with magnificent views on a good day (unfortunately, it wasn't one when this photo was taken). From here, you can enjoy splendid views down the lake and of the Derwent Fells above the western shore.
Derwent Water
Derwent Water (aka Derwentwater) is the third largest lake by area within the Lake District National Park (after Windermere and Ullswater). Scenically, Derwentwater is very picturesque; there are several islands within the lake which is surrounded by high fells, and many of the slopes facing Derwentwater are extensively wooded. A passenger launch operates a regular service on the lake taking visitors between several landing stages, starting and finishing at Keswick.
