This is Grey Street in the centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, an image recorded from the steps at the foot of Grey's Monument.
Three large buildings are in view: the one beyond the marble-walled metro entrance is now a fashion store but has been a bookshop and earlier, Mawson, Swann & Morgan, a small department store. The next is Lloyds Bank. Finally, the building with the colonnade is the Theatre Royal.
