Central Arcade, Grainger Street
Central Arcade, Grainger Street
This building is the Central Exchange Building on Grainger Street right in the centre of Newcastle. It was built in 1837 by Richard Grainger. In 1901 a major fire gutted most of the building and it was reconstructed to a design J Oswald and Sons. As part of this, the ground floor became the shop lined Central Arcade, which it remains to the present.
