4 Dukes Cottage, Backworth
Originally one of six estate workers' houses this attractive terraced row was built in a subdued 17th century style for the Duke of Northumberland in about 1840. The row of houses were restored and reduced in number to four in 1981-82 by J & D Darbyshire for the Tyne & Wear Preservation Trust. The cottages and the garden wall are Grade II Listed.
