This artwork, which is executed in a bold and colourful style, is entitled 'Beach' and was created by Mike Davies in 1983 based on a design by Rosalind Hurst, the winner of a schools competition. It is one of two stained glass artworks incorporated into each end of the original glazed canopy which protects passengers on the platform from the elements. In 2023 the Metro operators decided to have the artwork restored to its former glory and for that work to be carried out by glass artist Cate Watkinson, a former pupil of Mike Davies, at the National Glass Centre in Sunderland. In June 2024, the restored artwork, which Cate carried out with assistance from Rita Griskonyte, was officially unveiled with Mike Davies, Cate Watkinson and Rita Griskonyte, all present.
