The image was recorded from the bridge over the River Derwent where visitors enter the reserve. The (1999) sign is by English Nature, it welcomes visitors to the Lower Derwent Valley National Nature Reserve. The site is currently owned by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and jointly managed with Natural England.
