NZ2563 : Towards Newcastle's Castle

taken 6 months ago, near to Gateshead, England

Towards Newcastle's Castle
Towards Newcastle's Castle
The 12th century keep of the medieval castle stands high above the Tyne, but although it looks impressive from below, there has been much in the way of changes over the centuries including the demolition of parts of the castle during the construction of the main railway line into the city. The keep is largely medieval, but was 'tidied up' in the 19thC with new battlements etc.
