River Derwent, at Wheldrake Ings
Looking downstream (locally east). The river is an administrative boundary here, between the City of York on the north/near bank and North Yorkshire on the far/south bank. Wheldrake Ings are managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and form part of the Lower Derwent Valley national nature reserve. 'Ings' are meadows that regularly flood.
