Blackwall: East India Dock Basin
Blackwall: East India Dock Basin
The East India Docks were completed by 1806, but suffered much damage from bombing during World War II. A lot of the dock was subsequently filled in, but the Basin remains as a nature reserve. The area to the left is a salt marsh, an unusual feature in the London area these days. The rectangular object in the middle of the dock is a wooden bird nesting refuge.
