Formerly the home of Lofts nightclub, this building is now occupied by Lane 7 which offers, "three floors jampacked with bowling, karaoke, gaming, drinks and food". The huge glass artwork is entitled, 'Ellipsis Eclipses' and was, when it was unveiled in 2005, the final piece in a collection of 18 publicly-funded artworks in the city. This 39ft high sculpture was created by acclaimed American artist Danny Lane and is made up of 1,100 pieces, weighing 10,000 kilograms. It pays tribute to the North East's links with glass-making.
