The National Forest Way was opened in May 2014. It takes in 75 miles of public and permissive footpaths, crossing the National Forest from the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire to Beacon Hill Country Park in Leicestershire.
Martinshaw Wood covers an area of 103 hectares (254 acres), it lies near the villages of Groby and Ratby and is split in two by the M1 motorway.
