The central section of the Royal Victoria Hotel on Marina - see TQ7908 : Royal Victoria Hotel for
a photo of the whole building. The hotel was built in 1828-9 as one of the earliest components of developer James Burton's grand design for St Leonards-on-Sea as a resort. It has seen a number of major alterations over the years, including in 1891 and 1903, the latter seeing the addition of a further storey and of the pediments. Originally named the St Leonards Hotel, its name was changed following the staying of the royal family in James Burton's West Villa in 1834-5 (see TQ7908 : Crown House). Grade II listed - see Link
