Bridge inscription, Walkerburn
Bridge inscription, Walkerburn
The low sun was lighting up this inscription at the southern end of the road bridge over the Tweed. The bridge was built to connect with the railway station across the Tweed from Walkerburn village. The 1913 works replaced a failing pier near the south bank and the south span was renewed. Further upgrade took place in 1991 to meet statutory requirements for heavy vehicles. (From 'Bridging the Tweed' by Jim Lyon, author publication 2019).
